The novel is focused onthe lives of the three Davenports children – Olivia, Helen and John, their rich friend Ruby, and their maid (and childhood friend) Amy-Rose, all searching for love and their place in the world. Set in a time just after the abolition of slavery, we follow the civil rights movement, as well as the fight for women’s rights.
