It was such a pleasure to see my Grandchildren’s faces when they opened their My Year of Books on Christmas Day. This is a gift that gives on giving!! Rachel, Nika and Jo definitely know how to chose the right books.
Step 1. Once you have purchased your My Year of Books for some lucky person, we will send you a confirmation of your order with a link to the Subscription Details Form which you need to complete as fully as possible. We’ll need to know the recipient’s name, age and address to send the books to. You’ll also be able to let us know about their reading tastes if you want to and if there’s any particular type of books you think they’d enjoy. If you think there is someone else better suited to give us this information please do forward it onto them!
Step 2. Once we have received the Subscription details we will setup an account for the recipient so they can access their personalised My Year of Books page where they can rate their book, give us feedback and update their preferences to ensure we always send them what they would like and enjoy.
Step 3. As long as we receive the Subscription Details form before the 28th of the month, we will send out the recipient’s first book the following month so it’s important to complete the Subscription Details form as soon as possible. With their first book, the recipient will get a gift card which explains that you’ve bought them a Year of Books and gives them the necessary details to login to their My Year of Book account.
Step 4. Each month we will review any feedback from the recipient and based on the information we have send them a new book which we are sure they will enjoy and love.
First of all we’ll consult the form that you filled in about the recipient. If you have bought A Year of Picture Books and said the recipient is 3 years old and loves picture books about dumper trucks and dinosaurs, we’ll try to pick books generally in this genre! (Every now and again we might throw in something a little bit different, just to broaden the horizons!).
A Year of Books and Six Months of Fiction are aimed at older children and young adults so, whilst we will use what you have initially told us to choose their first book we hope they will regularly give us feedback and keep their preferences updated so we can make sure that we always send books they will really enjoy.
We run an independent children’s bookshop and so have thousands of books to browse and pick from in our shop, and a team of staff who really know their children’s books! We hand-pick every single Year of Books book, in order to make the book parcels we send as enjoyable as possible.
We hope you let us know what books they may already have when completing the Subscription Details form so that we have an idea of what they may have already read but in the unlikely event that the recipient does receive a book that they already own, please return it to us and we will send out a replacement. (Please note that normal refund policy applies and you need to let us know about it within 28 days.)
As long as we receive the Subscription Details Form before the 28th of the month, we will start My Year of Books the following month. However, if you want My Year of Books to start later just let s know in the additional information section of the form. We aim to send out all our book parcels in the first week of the month. Books are delivered by Royal Mail, so will usually arrive with you by the second week of each month.
If you haven’t received your delivery by the 18th of the month please get in touch.
