My Family and Other Suspects

Ruth and her dad have spent the weekend along with her aunts, their partners and her cousin visiting the ancient GG, Ruth’s coolly distant step-grandmother, at the family farm. But their long weekend turns into an enforced family holiday when GG ends up dead under suspicious circumstances. Ruth, an amateur detective (well, she’s read a lot of Agatha Christie books) discovers nearly everyone had a reason to be rid of GG and now her list of suspects includes everyone in the house, including (in the interests of fairness) Ruth.

She’s determined to get to the bottom of the mystery no matter what it takes even if it means suspecting those who are nearest and dearest. As Ruth says, the thing about family holidays is that you’ve got to be prepared for fights.
