Adventure books inhabit a special place in children’s literature. Exploring the world from the safety of a book is something that is really important for kids in teaching them about the world and ultimately about themselves. When it feels like kid’s worlds are getting smaller, exploring through books is especially important.

Adventure books are also eternal in nature as they express the hero’s journey; being faced with a challenge, overcoming adversity and transforming in to something else. They show kids that they can be more than they are and show them what they might be capable of.

In recent years there have been some great adventure stories as well as some beautifully put together factual books about explorers.
