Bags of Books Lewes opening 15 June June 9, 2020 – Posted in: Book News

We will be open again soon!

We’re back! (almost) If all goes well, Bags of Books, Lewes will be open to the public from 15 June 2020.
Have you missed us? We have missed you! We are glad to be back after all this time. Thank you to everyone who continued to shop with us online and by phone in the last few months.

What’s new at Bags of Books, Lewes?

You will notice a lot of changes in the shop, most obviously our safety measures put in place in accordance with government guidelines (see below) but also innovations made by our new owner Rachel Givertz (see previous blog post)  revitalising the layout of the shop. ( And the stock, we have soooooooo many new books. ) We have also brought back the much-missed Non-Fiction Room and filled it with beautifully illustrated books. We’re sure you will love it.

We have also had a move around of other books, and expanded our baby and toddler section moving it to the front of the shop.

Also…. drum roll….we have a new member of staff. Alan. Take a bow Alan.

Look out for Alan’s recommendations on Facebook -he is pretty opinionated.

New Opening hours

We will be open  10am- 4pm Monday to Saturday (please note these times are subject to change, please check our Facebook page for latest updates)

You can also book a private shopping appointment to have the bookshop to yourself (or your small family group) outside of public shopping times.

The time slots available are:

9.00     9.30     4.00     4.30  please contact us by phone or email to book one.

Safety measures

To abide by the government guidelines we will be limiting the number of customers in our shop at any one time to five  so you may be asked to wait outside if we have already reached that amount when you arrive.

We kindly ask that everybody use the hand sanitizer provided on entry and exit of our shop, to help keep staff and customers as safe as possible.

We understand that people like to browse but during this time we would be grateful if all our customers could be understanding and try to limit the touching of books as much as possible; use card payment only;  be respectful of others in the shop and keep a safe 2m distance from other people.

What hasn’t changed at Bags of Books

We are still passionate about books, of course, and we are committed to finding you just the right book from our amazing range.

If you choose not to visit us in person, you can of course still order online, www.bags-of-books.co.uk – all our current stock is listed on our website, and if what you want is not there please let us know, we can usually get it for you in a couple of days.

If you need some help choosing, please message us via our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/leweschildrensbookshop/ or email us bagsofbooks@bags-of-books.co.uk or call us on 01273 479320 and we will be happy to make suggestions.

We can deliver your books to you, (free delivery in Lewes itself), or you can collect from the shop door by appointment if that suits you better.

Thank you for your support, both during the past few months and, we hope, in the future.

Support Independents and choose real bookshops – we are both!
